Autodesk products and Windows 10

Hello!

Can Autodesk products may launch and install on the new operating system MS Windows 10?

Official comments from Autodesk developers:

Windows 10 is not yet an officially supported operating system across the Autodesk product line. Autodesk intends to support many of our key products on Windows 10 and will add products to the list of products supported on Windows 10 as updates and future versions are released. Product Support will provide their best effort to assist customers who have issues with current Autodesk products running on Windows 10.

In other words we have to wait for any new versions or service packs. It's also important to note that support for Windows 10 will be implemented only for versions 2016, 2015, 2014 and 2013.

Product managers write comments in forum that testing support Win 10 

But users around the world try to install and run Autodesk applications on Windows 10 and achieve results. For example, Inventor 2016 running on Windows 10

Several recommendations from users:

• if application doesn’t run once installed, you may have to run it as administrator (right click on icon -> Run as Administrator)
• try to set compatibility (right click on icon -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Windows 7)
• try to install or reinstall the Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 drivers. Click here to download

DIN Rail in Autodesk Inventor

Hello!

I design the Inventor part - DIN Rail (also known as Top Hat Rail or type Ω).

Model is fully parameterized by list of parameters and iLogic rules.

To get the rail model you must select type in combo box, then choose with/without perforation by check box and enter length of rail

iLogic form is shown on Place Component to assembly.

Product keys for Autodesk 2016 products

Hello!

Product keys are required for installation of Autodesk products and are used to differentiate products that are both sold independently and as part of a product suite.

For example, installing AutoCAD 2016 as a point product requires product key 001H1, but installing AutoCAD 2016 from the Autodesk Product Design Suite Ultimate 2016 requires product key 781H1. The same version of AutoCAD is in both software packages but the product key differentiates one package from the other.

• Autodesk AutoCAD 2016 Coordination Model Osnap Support (64-bit)

This Feature Update provides a way to specify precise locations on an attached Сoordination model using the standard 2D endpoint and center object snaps. If Endpoint or Center are set as running object snaps, a marker and a tooltip display when you move the cursor over these locations on an attached coordination model.

Also system variable CMOSNAP has been added (0 - object snapping is disabled for geometry in all coordination model attachments in the drawing, 1 - Object snapping is enabled for geometry in all coordination model attachments in the drawing)

- A display issue with the design feed palette, Geographic Location dialog, Help window browser, and Start page for Windows 8.1 operating systems at high DPI settings;

- A performance issue with the Publish command;

- A plotting issue where text formatted right-to-left plots upside down.

AutoCAD Classic workspace in AutoCAD 2015/2016

Hello!

One of the most notable innovations in AutoCAD 2015 (also in AutoCAD 2016) is missing of classic workspace.

If you would like to use the AutoCAD Classic workspace in AutoCAD 2015, you must complete several steps:

• Type -TOOLBAR in command line (don't miss symbol "-". It's very important!)

• Enter toolbar name, for example Draw or Modify and select option Show

Requared panel appears on the screen

• Now let’s turn off the Ribbon. Enter command RIBBONCLOSE

• Enable the Menu Bar with the system variable MENUBAR = 0 (1 - displays the menu bar, 0 - hides the menu bar)

• Right-click on Draw panel and select other requared panels. We must select the panels Standart, Styles, Layers, Properties, Draw, Modify and Worspaces to achieve usual classic workspace

• And now we must dock panels on the screen

Do you recognize the "old school" classic AutoCAD?

• Enter in Workspace Settings (WSSETTINGS) and choose Automatically save workspace changes option

It's necessary to save changes you've made to a workspace when you switch to another workspace.

• Finally we need to save workspace as AutoCAD Classic 

Done!
